London’s Design Museum is putting on a show of gorgeous fashion illustrations, taking in René Gruau’s elegant ladies of the 1940s and 1950s, through to more modern pieces. Sigh over gorgeous drawings of vintage gowns.
Drawing Fashion celebrates a unique collection of some of the most remarkable fashion illustrations from the twentieth and twenty first centuries. These original works define the fine art of illustrating fashion, from the collections of Chanel, Dior, Comme des Garçons and Poiret as well as Viktor & Rolf, Lacroix and McQueen.
This exhibition showcases fashion illustrators at their creative heights: Lepape at the beginning of the century, Gruau in the 40s and 50s, Antonio throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s, to current artists Mats Gustafson, Aurore de la Morinerie and Francois Berthoud. Film-clips, news reels, music and photography will sit alongside the original illustrations to reflect not only the spirit and the style of the decades but also the wider social and cultural changes of the century.

One of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive today, Ron English just opened his latest exhibition at the Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion (California) entitled Status Factory with a surreal assemblage of over 100 artworks by the artist. This highly interactive exhibition traces the arc of English’s most ambitious themes across mediums.
Born in Dallas, Texas in 1966, Ron English paints, infiltrates, reinvents and satirizes modern culture and its mainstream visual iconography on canvas, in song, and directly onto hundreds of pirated billboards.
